SDguy captures my possition about GC, I think they could be nicer, but for the price, and the quqality of my tanks (I have two) I can put up with some gruffness.

So, why didn't you just slide the plastic sleave...
So, why didn't you just slide the plastic sleave up? They make the overflow out of glass, then put an outer sleave of plastic on it.
It would be simple enough to raise.
