Will you be offering the discount to our club members that you are offering the ARC?

No, the discount for SaltwaterU only applies to ARC members, but everyone can purchase tickets for the zoo at a discount for that day ($10) thru SaltwaterU, whether they are ARC members or not. (It is not on the site yet, but will be in a few days). We did this so family members and people just attending the frag swap can enjoy a day at the zoo.
Admission to the conference already includes admission to the zoo. Steve Last edited by SShindell; 03/26/2005 at 09:12 AM. |

That's a great question. I have been wondering that myself but virtually no information seems to be available about the frag swap.
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but I have really searched around. |

Frag Swap info
Sorry, that's my fault! I'm supposed to be spreading the word and helping to coordinate the swap. Let me direct you to our thread at The Reef Tank, where we will be posting what we're bringing. Please read through the thread and post what you'll have available. It's a new thread, so there might not be anything on it yet, but please, if so, be the first! A lot of people will be attending this!
If you have any questions, please pm me here or at TRT. Here's our thread: FRAG SWAP |

By the way, folks, there is NO ZOO ADMISSION NEEDED for those who are only attending the frag swap--this is a new perk! So that's just $5 to attend, and there will be a coral check room for your coolers if you're there for awhile, and many coral frags will be raffled for $1 tickets!!!

The frag swap sounds cool, but the rest sounds like a high priced rippp.

Nomad37--
Is there any way to easily detect redbugs onsite? For instance, if you can do it easily with a magnifying glass and a bright light we could probably set up a "red bug station" if we plan in advance, where you could inspect a frag just to be safe. Any thoughts? |

So the red bugs would be pretty easy to see with a magnifying glass (the little, more magnifying part is what you should use if you do this). BUT supposedly a jewelers loop is really good for it.
I think the problem would be that they have eggs, don't they? So you could see adults but not eggs, therefore having been checked by the red bug station doesn't necessarily guarantee that frags are red bug free. Plus, being in a bag is already going to make them harder to see, isn't it? Hopefully people are going to quarentine any corals they get but there's always a bunch of people who don't. With that said, I do think it's a great idea to set up some sort of area where frags could be checked. |

I always carry a magnifying glass and a jewlers loop to inspect any frag before I purchase. You can detect them in the bag, but it's better if you can put the frag in a white bowl so you can turn the frag as needed plus it keeps the slime down which makes it harder to see them. Putting new frags in a q-tank is always your best bet for insurance.
