Yea, i'm getting a original D maximod in the next couple days. can't wait to see how it performs vs the eco and sureflow. having two surfow's is tough for a 125g with a dsb. Well not nearly as tough as a koralia 4! D knows i'm jk man.

Hmm rust is a sign that the stainless steel used is of lower grade.
How bad is the rust?

not too bad but this pump is only used for mixing salt water a couple of times. I going to check out the one that been running in my tank for 2 weeks tomorrow.

Yes, a small amount of rust around each end on the exposed shaft next to the rubber mounts on the eco mods. will probly convert it to a carbon fiber shaft soon.

Because both my shafts are starting to rust and now someone else is having this same problem.....I would bet everyone that is running these kits will have this problem.

I spent $40 on these kits and shouldn't have to worry about this problem. Also its strange how www.ecosystemaquarium.com took these kits off their website.....

i take this back. its all pvc, plastic, or rubber parts and the steel rod doesnt show signs of rust for me.

that stainless steel rod probably wasnt of the best materials, so it will rust a lil. the better rust resistant stainless steel rod will probably cost a lil more. i really dont know what the facts are but im glad i went with the sureflow which are doing well and from a good company.

btw, that lil rust isnt going to hurt anything but always safer than sorry to remove it and look for replacement or refund.

The rust may not be a problem now but it will end up breaking. Plus doesn't rust fuel algae by leaching iron?

Not such small amounts of rust but it may break if it rusts to much which sucks. I checked my eco mod thats been running for 3-4weeks and it isn't rusting the slightest bit....strange.

Just a reminder for all those who are playing with magnets....BE CAREFUL
When they snap together with your fingers in between...it hurts!
Had that happen to me couple of nights ago....I had to use a screw driver to wedge them open....

its noisy and chatters when it starts up, results vary, most chattering have been on mj1200

i got tired of it chattering terribly somtimes, almost sounded like a when a stick gets lodge in a fan so i took them off the wavemaker and i still get good results of flow in the tank with the wavemaker

i've got my crippled one on a mj1200 sitting on a 1 minute cycle now. no problem with it making noise. it's no louder than my return pump or any other pump. I think the fans in my hood are louder than it.

what are the GPH for the MJ 400, 600 and 900 with this mod if the MJ 1200 is 1600 GPH??

Thanks!
