I believe that HLLE is related to diet. Try throwing some seaweed/sheets of algae in there. Tangs need to be grazing. Maybe this has something to do with it. Good Luck!

HLLE can be caused by numerous things, it can't usually be directed down to one reason. Its a complicated disease. They can recover from it, but the way they look is permanent. They can go on to live healthy lives if you can deal with how they look. How bad is it? Have any pics? Stray voltage can cause this too...

i have a sailfin tang who was a rescue from a tank with stray voltage, he had lateral line disease pretty badly. i gave him a good environment and supplied him with an appropriate diet, high in vitamin c, a deficiency of which is another cause of lateral line disease. he has recovered, his "erosions" healed you can still see scars when he gets stressed out, otherwise he is in great health and a wonderful fish.

Assuming any root causes have been corrected (water quality issues, diet, etc.) I had excellent success with Boyd's Vita-Chem for healing HLLE scars on a blue tang back when I had a FO tank. Just my experience.

Spectrum pellets are also a very good source but tangs do need constant veggie supply so get an algae clip and some nori.
