120 Glasscages Finally Set Up
I finally got the stand, tank and everything finally set up with the live rock preliminarily aquascaped and everything running and working properly. The only problem I currently have is a tiny drip from the plumbing of one bulkhead and I am going to redesign that corner probably next week to eliminate the problem.
The stand is tall enough to accomodate a much nicer skimmer, and the canopy is super spacious and airy for cramming whatever I need in there. Both were custom made for me (designed by me) - built by the girlfriends dad, who is retired and enjoys woodworking projects. The walls of the stand are all removable and held on with rare earth magnets. The walls match the canopy in design. The sump is the 4' I had under my 125 which was six feet long, so getting this to fit was a challeng but we designed the floor of the stand to have it fit perfectly. I prefer this to taller, shorter sumps like the one that came with the 120 so I kept it. The only thing in the tank at the moment are some inverts and some green chromis. I need to find a good deal on some MH's and get some more flow going and it'll be golden and ready to start finally adding livestock to. I had the 125 set up but a few months afterward decided that I was probably going to be moving this year and stopped adding things to the tank - simply maintained it as it was until I had to break it down.. so I'm excited to finally be able to set up and expand. The room itself is specifically geared toward the tank, with the only other things occupying the space being a very nice couch, a lamp, and eventually some shelves on the wall for books. It's the relaxing and spacing out drinking tea and staring at the tank room (which will double as my guest bedroom). ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Just my opinion:
Once you add MH's to the tank I think you are going to have some issues with getting air flow into the canaopy of your tank. It appears that you have your tank right up agaist the wall and dont have any fans in the canopy. I could be off in left field but from the pics that is what I see. I know living in VA during the summer months I have had some issues with heat in my tank. Just trying to help out. Griffey |

The entire back of the canopy is open with about 8" between the back of it and the wall. The canopy itself is also huge - it's 12" tall, so there's a ton of air space in there. It'll be easy to install fans if necessary as well.

looks nice! You're well on your way! What kind of livestock are you planning to keep?
