help with mh retro kit

I'm going to be installing 2 250w mh lights next week and I was wondering if I need some kind of cover to protect them from getting splashed on? I have a 72 bow with a custom hood and I get minor water or salt build up on my current lights. They are T5 with a plastic cover to protect them. Although my MH will be up higher than the T5's are... I just didn't know if I needed a glass shield to protect them.

How high? My MH are almost a good 12" above the tank and I don't get any splashes or salt spray.

Mounting it is really dependent on your hood. Your options are to get either a huge sheet and cover the entire hood between the lights. You could use pegs to hold the sheet in place once you get it in there, which will let you take it out as well. The other option is to cover each light by its self. Mounting that depends on the reflector design, but some sort of removeable twist in place holders would be most conveinient.

Note you will lose some light intensity even if you shell out for low iron glass. If you're worried about jumpers I'd use eggcrate. I'm going to be picking some up as my 6-line just comitted suicide
