Coralife vs Orbit

For a 36" all in one lighting unit, would you guys suggest Coralife or Orbit.

The Coralife has a external ballast, and the Orbit has an internal ballast.

Coralife Unit

Orbit Unit

Experiences with either or?

Thanks in Advance

Dave

Coralife = better quality IMO. The remote ballast will cut down on heat issues as well.

I have had no problems with my OO. I used to have a system with the big ballast that sits on the floor it just made everything cluttered. Now I am not saying anything bad about coralife. I just like my OO. I have mine hanging from the ceiling about 10" from the surface and I have no temp problems. Either way both systems are nice. Good Luck

I've had the 36" 150w MH 2x96w Outer Orbit running for the last 4 months. Been flawless up until now. Love it!!!

It's still on special @ Dr. Fosters for $399.00 I think.

The Orbit is a very well built unit.

Orbit is what I chose and don't regret it. Heat is a non issue here as well. I personally don't care for the 10k bulbs that come with it but, Corallife bulbs are not likely to be any better.

I have the OO and I am very pleased with it. I had a Coralife (Dual Aqualinear PC) and I was not impressed with the build quality. I believe Orbit makes a higher quality fixture - IME. I also started a poll on RC before I made my purchase on this very subject and OO was favored to CL by a wide margin - do a search on RC for this poll. BTW, MH on OO are on the yellow side - when they come due for replacement I plan on going to 14K rather than 10K and will probably use a non-Current brand such as Phoenix, Aqualine, XL, etc.

I would go with the Outer Orbit. The fixture is built to last.

oo seems like a better constructed fixture.
besides, i like how the oo is 2x96w pc actinics and 4 moon lights. the coralife is only 2x65w pc actinics with 2 moon lights. seems like a no brainer to me.
