Algal Scrubber

Bob,

Quite an impressive tank!!

I am setting up only a measily 90 Gal. reef tank at the moment, but was hoping you could give me some pointers, as you have obviously mastered this. My tank has one of the Aquaricare 30x12 Scrubbers running for about 2 months and cannot seem to get a good buildup of turf. I actually bought some seed screens to help the process along. The only thing that seems to happen is the seed screens are the only things to grow. How did you start the process, I am baffled.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The seed screens will take some time to spread, especially on a new setup and without a lot of fish. Mine are on a reverse daylight schedule and each is lighted with two 28 watt pc's. I believe that dosing with reefplus ( Seachem) or similar product will enhance the growth of the turf algae. The screens, however, should cover in due time. I hope this helps, Bob
