Dead Gorgonian?

I purchased a Yellow Gorgonian days ago and I'm not sure if it is alive now or if it was ever alive. My levels are good I've tried spot feeding, it's gotten good circulation... Please check out the other threads for photos and more info. Someone suggested I post in the softies section because I can't seem to get answers elsewhere.

-Have Yellow Gorgonian Polyp Photos?
-Is this aptasia? Polyp? or what else?

Please help, I need to know exactly what to do for this. I also bought some "liquid super glue" from the dollar store will this be ok for future cuttings of this gorg and others like it? It has a huge warning on the back saying "CONTAINS CYANOACRYLATE". I'm still thinking I will drill some LR and cut these two pieces off: (Grey lines cut lines. Red lines strip yellow off lines.)

Hi Jonathan,
Your Diodogorgia seems to be having a mild tissue deterioration issue. You have the right idea about cutting the dead tissue off and perhaps fragging the 2 good ends. I would toss out that superglue you bought and run down to Home Depot or Lowes and pick up some LOCTITE gel super glue. Make sure it is the Gel type, otherwise...well...you may have some problems that could wipe out your tank.
As to the aptasia question, it was more than likely some form of aptasia that hitchhiked either on the Gorg itself, or something else you put into the tank. Your polyp extensions will come out with some enticement. Sometimes they can be stubborn, but try target feeding some frozen cyclopeeze or baby brine. The polyp extensions on your gorgonian should be large enough to eat the baby brine. Good luck on the fragging!

Just my luck, you posted at 9:17 I probably left the house at 9:15 and drove right be a Home Depot, lol. And well when I returned I reached in the tank to move my gorg to a little more flow and I know longer have to make that bottom cut. It popped right of, just above where I was planning on cutting it. I may decide to cut a little lower just incase there was something left. I'll have to grab the glue on Sat as I will be out all day tomorrow.

Good idea increasing the flow as well. I didnt bother mentioning that because I figured you had already done so. Update some pics as you go along.

Yeah, I had it in good flow, but I moved my power head around a little bit because I notices the top of that tank what not moving enough.(little film on top) The gorg hasn't been permanently planted yet either, been trying to get a good solid answer on the glue to use. Thanks a lot for your response greatly appreciate it. I may run to home depot tomorrow if they stay open late enough, I have to go out to find a dechlorinator any ways.

I bought the Gel and have it stood up in good flow. I clipped the ends where the pieces fell off and the two living frags are glued to LR as well. It is in good flow now. I think it has met its end though. Still seen no life and well it almost looks like it's shedding a little. The color is about the same I believe. I was going to try to get pics, but my camera is dead. I found out my calcium was way to low, I wonder if that was why it never really woke up.
