Thermos trade other then zoas?
Does anyone ever thermos trade anything besides zoanthids and mushrooms? I see lots of thermos trading but not much else besides zoathids.
It seems to me that other things (sps and lps) can be traded just as easily using two day USPS priority mail so why not? A little care in packing goes a long way. I have a thermos and I'm willing to give it a try, anyone else? |

I have a decent millipora with teal polyps and blue tips, as well as a few polyps of blastomosa. I also have plenty of posscillapora (basic brown but nice nonetheless) and a purple cap that I believe is the Tyree odaho grape (or whatever it's called). Not to mention plenty of hammer coral with pink tipped polyps.
I'm sorry, my camera was stolen recently so I don't have any pics. I was thinking of trying to ship damp. Wrap in wet paper and bag with a small ammount of water. Many corals do quite well this way and shipping weight is drasticly reduced without all the water. Hey you being in PA, I think that UPS Ground would be overnight anyway. What do you think? |

I will have to review that part of the book. I would like to use as little water as possible to keep the weight down.
Dactyl and Bmac what would you like to trade? I can send a couple frags of my teal polyp, blue tip, millipora or some poscillapora, or a polyp or three of blasto. Maybe go from me to bmac, to dactyl and back to me? That is if you don't want to wait for n_sarno to get back from vacation. Jon |

Dactyl, that's exactly what I had in mind.
21Reefman, when you say not the 1st pic, did you mean pic #2, it looks like a blue montipora digitata? If not, I would love a piece of that. I have a teal polyp with blue tip millipora and a few polyps of blastomusa that is red with bright green centers. What's the best route for the thermos to take, Here (Boston) to Miami to Chicago and back? Any thoughts? I can put a few frags of each of my things into the thermos and send it to the first guy who will take a frag or two and replace with another few frags and on and on? Is that basicly how it usually goes? Any thoughts? Thanks Jon |

Linkia was my first thought as well, but looking closely it looks like a digitata. If so it's the most amazingly blue digi I have ever seen.
Ok, let's finalize the list I guess. Everyone interested right now please chime in with your name, location, and what you have to offer. Pyrojon, Boston, MA Teal/Blue Milli Red/Green Blastomussa |

Try walmart or one of those big department stores.

So a thermos will automatically keep the stuff at the right temp?
#21
it will maintain the temp of you water for hours to days. the insulation in the thermos helps with this.

So water in a thermos stays around 81 degrees?

That's what a thermos is supposed to do.
I recently bought a thermos for my wife at WalMart, it was about $6 (I think) and I believe it had a glass inner jacket. Anyway, I filled it up with boiling water at night and capped it. The water was still steaming hot when I poured it out in the morning. |
