Bought the Liverock and Live sand from a Local reefer who was breaking his tank down due to moving. He just grabbed a plastic bag and started throwing all that stuff in and said " here is some free stuff". .

Hey, I saw your thread theother day and I was looking at your signature and going damn!! He's getting everything I'm getting! Im waiting a little longer to start my tank thread because I want all my equipment.

Ive been waiting for this tank thread because its pretty sweet. Landscaping is awesome, what corals will you be keeping and how are you going to battle nitrate?

Definetly going to follow this tank!

Cool cool. Whats your setup gunna look like?

As for coral, it will probably be 70% sps 30% LPS/clams/zoos. SPS/clams on the rock work and LPS in the sandbed in the front. Thats why I went with 6 bulbs on a 24" depth tank, so I could keep acans/blastos/micros/ and any other lps without frying them.

Thanks for the comments .

As for the vortech pump. I really really love this pump. I have a eurobrace on my tank so I couldnt hang any powerheads and didnt want to glue magnets on powerheads. This pump pushes a extreme amount of gental and wide flow. The best part of it is, none of the heat from the pump goes to your tank. I have it set at about 75% right now along with a 450gph(after head loss) return and im getting PLENTY of random flow all over the tank.

It will take alittle time to adjust the magnet on the outer pump to line up perfectly so it doesnt vibrate. Not a big deal though. Took me about 10-15 mins to find the "sweet spot". Once its set, you dont have to worry about again. As for how loud it is, at 100% power, it does make a slight hum. But nothing that will keep me awake when trying to sleep, and my bed is 4-5 feet from my bed.

I would recommend this pump to anyone who would like to keep powerheads/wires out of there tank to have a "clean" look to it and is looking for tons and tons of flow (3000GPH at 100%).

Why I ordered mine! I also have an eheim 1262 so I can sleep 4-5 feet also. Instead of kinda hijacken your thread with my setup I'll send you a link when I put my tank forum up. Cant wait to see the progress on your tank!

Also my question still stands, nitrates, how are you going to get rid of them?

Awesome setup. Where did you get those 3 fans from? I can't seem to find any like that in my area. I'd like to set fans up like that on my tank too, those would be perfect.

I think you can get those fans at wal-mart, unfotunately...

I bought what I think is the same thing for about 7$ for my desk at work.

subzero420: Sounds good. Nitrates? My skimmer/water changes/120lbs LR should be plenty of filtration to keep nitrates to a minimum. Im actually a water change addict which is always good .

Beefcake: I bought those fans at Target(should also be at walmart) for 7 bucks each. They are called "Hawaiian breeze". There really quiet and push out much more air then your average 60mm PC fan. I have them set on the same timer as my lights. Two fans on each end of the canopy are turned on when the 2 dusk/dawn T5's come on, then when the 4 overdriven ones come on the middle one also turns on. Keeps the bulbs pretty darn cool.

I'm with Subzero420 on this. I've practically bought the same setup as you, s3al! I'm going to try and install my T5 lights this weekend in my canopy. Can I ask you how far above the surface your bulbs are?
