How do you get rid of bubble algae?

I bought a couple pieces of LR with it on there. Is there anyway to take it off? Someone told me to take the rock out, scrub it off, and rinse it in salt water. Is this what I should do? Thanks!

If the rocks are removable, yes, you could do that. I have been successful getting some out with a curette, a small curved scraping instrument that scrapes it off the live rock without bursting it. Emerald (mithrax) crabs have been known to eat it, but, not a guarantee that they will. SH

Just curious, if I did take it out, scrub it off, and then rinse it, wouldn't the spores from the algae be all over the rock then?

The spores are only active at a brief time. Don't panic over popping one, but it's best to avoid doing so if you can.

Wouldn't it be a more sure way if you just leave the rock out of the water for a week or two. Maybe in the hot sun for a few days?

He is still in there. doesn't heart my corals at all. He eats the purppal stuff that grows on the rocks. he is living a good life. I also have a Foxface. I have not seen him eat the bubble algae. it all gon now, so I have no need of the Foxface. he in the tank for looks.
