This was my old setup with 250w 10k Ushio's. This pic was with MH's only, no Actinics.
Light fixture was 48" PFO Arcolight 2x250w DE MH 2x110w VHO's ![]() I did not like the color at all. I got rid of them after a week and went with 14k phoenix.

I use to have the Ushio 10k 175w SE. Kind of yellow but not like the 6500k bulbs. I moved to to the Aqualine 10k which are actually 13k or 14k

I have the 175W SE Ushio 10K as well and I agree with undertai that they are kind of yellow, but if you are going with supplement with vho actinics than you get a very crisp look.

If you're accustomed to 14 or 20K, then everything else "looks" yellow. My tank looks about the same as s3al and appears to be natural, at least to me.
Here's mine with no color correction, but the VHO are on also so it gives a hint of blue. Ushio 250w 10K & URI 160w actinic (X2): ![]() I've seen friends tanks with 20K's, and color varies greatly from brand to brand, crisp white to very unnatural blue. Check out other peoples tanks and find what looks best to you. |

i was going to go with 4 4' atinics so that should give it a pretty blue look.
