Meeting Schedule - Opinions Please!

As most of you know we've been looking for a permanent meeting locale, since booking the libraries on Mondays has been getting rough. It seems that the Newark area is most convenient for the most members. I've been turned down flat by two local high schools, and UDel. Some other places are available for charge (boo!) and a handful of others are free but have other things already booked for Mondays, such as bingo. So.....

What's the general feeling about holding meetings on Saturdays, say 1-3 PM? We would have no problems booking the Newark library at this time. I see a number of advantages:
- convenience for new members who may come from far away (south of New Castle Co.)
- guest speakers or events would be held on a Sat anyway, and can just take the place of the meeting
- probably less conflicts with jobs and family time

What does everyone think? Please post your opinions!
Thanks - Mary

Meeting time

It would be fine with me. It might provide a good opportunity for visiting member's homes to look at their setups (tank tours) if the agenda is slim.

sounds ok to me. but saturday afternoons would also pretty much guarantee no summer time turn out. might need to consider that. or suspend summer meetings except for tours or possibly barbeque frag swaps.

One problem with Sat evening meetings is that both libraries (which are still the preferred locations) close at 5PM on Sat. Unfortunately there's too many of us to find a time that will work for everyone. But we need to know if Sat afternoon is better or worse for most people. Please keep the input comin'!

I'll be more than happy to attend any "study group" sessions at a local watering hole once a month for those who cannot make the regular meetings

My attendance has slipped this year (1 meeting in the last 6 months), but it would stay that way or get worse if we switched to weekends.

It looks like I'm in the minority, but I vote to keep it during the week !!

Sorry for the bump, but I am ALL about meetings on weekends (if this question is still on the table).

Watering hole "study group"? ahaha Watering hole frag swap! R'aR

I rarely remember to show up for meetings because I can't seem to wrap my head around "Monday".

that's a great idea, why can we find a dive bar that serves food(so all ages can attend)and have our meetings on a Sat. afternoon

Hey guys, sorry I forgot to post back to this one....
At the Feb meeting we discussed this and the consensus was that we should just shift to some other weekday night that is better for the libraries. So we decided on wed. and the April & May meetings are already booked for the 2nd wed. (see website for details).
I have made a ton of phone calls about getting a permanent space in the newark area and have not had any luck finding a place that will let us meet for free or even cheap. If anybody know of something, please let me know!
But there's nothing to stop us from getting together as often as we want at watering holes and such!!
-Mary
