Setting up the Super Squirt..

Show me your setup.. This is how I'm going to set it up on my 29G..

This is what it looks like in the stand. I will remove the back panel and add a 2x4 for support ...

I will also reduce the output to 3/4" (maybe 1/2") .... 400GPH out of the 1" pipe won't create enough flow (I think) ..

Another shot

What do you think??

What pump will you be using for this? I run a mag 9.5 to the squirt, 3/4" pipe running up from the sump to the tank is approximately four feet. I had a mag 5, and the flow sucked!

I'll use a RIO 20HF on my squirt. Right now with the plumbing I have (sans squirt) it goes up a 4ft rise or so via flex tubing to a 90 that tees off in two directions to a manifold which has 3 output holes and the flow is gentle but not strong. Hopefully with the restriction to one - 1.5 outlets it'll be strong enough to be useful. I can't go much stronger though because of the limitations of the squirt, but I plan to mount the squirt high so it'll have the head restriction already.

If I told you, I'd have to kill you. LOLZ

I paid $160 for it used, from an RC member... haven't plug it in yet but seems to be a good shape beside the usually rust here and there.

It's supposed to be equivalent to the Panworld 200.

I've had the Iwaki 70MD RLT and have the Panworld 50px-x, and the Iwaki is definitely louder. It sounded like a dishwasher to me. But then you're comparing two different models where the Iwaki is pumping out more water, so it will be louder.

louder but is it bearable? Beside the noise... any other complaints about it?

Yeah, it was bearable for me. I had it in the kitchen area, so when I was in the living room watching TV, it wasn't too bad. Besides that, you can't go wrong with the quality and dependability of an Iwaki.

Maybe we all can go to Paladin to check out his pump so we both can decide if you(buy) me(hook up) the iwaki or not.

I have a regular squirt paired up with a QuitOne 4000. The noise from the pump is undetectable, but with a closed loop and powerful pump you'll introduce alot of micro bubbles. I can hear the air being sucked in hitting the pump and eventually micro bubbles in the tank. My recommendation when setting up a closed loop is to make sure everything is air tight or else you'll see micro-bubbles.

good to know NC35... but looking at your picture make my neck ache. LOLZ....

How do you know everything is air tight? if it's not air tight, wouldn't things be leaking.

I don't have the Iwaki anymore since I downsized to a 29g and using the Panworld pump. But I'm sure it'll give you some good flow...but you can check out the Panworld if you want to.

Sorry about the pic...everytime i rotate the pic it distorts the pic.

My air leaks are from the intake side (before the pump). The intake side leaks will pull the water and air into the system vesus the outlet side (after the pump) will show water leakage. OM recommended me to run the closed loop with the the outlet completely closed and this will put more pressure on the pipes and thus show you where the air leaks are.

I suspect my air leakage is from the QuitOne pump. They have two interchangeable fittings if you want to run dry versus run wet. These fittings aren't screwed on tight like a Iwaki, Mag and Pan.

Here you go, just finished a few minutes ago

Getting blisters from cutting these pipes.... paul is recommending me to put 2 of the return as low as possible..... I think I'll move 2 of the center returns to the back and then lower it 8" down from the back corners.

Er, I SURE HOPE that you bought a pair of PVC cutters and didn't cut the PVC with a hacksaw! Why? PVC cutters will make a straight cut that doesn't need deburring in about 2 seconds. A hacksaw takes like 30 seconds to cut and causes lots of blisters!

Hey, does anyone know the difference between the squirts, the super squirts and the 2 and 4 way squirts?

I ordered a 2 way squirt and it appears to be a 4 way squirt, but hey included two plugs to plug up two of the outlets. Almost the same price. In fact the 2 way was a buck or two MORE than the 4 way...the price of the pvc plugs?

V:

Basically super squirt and squirt are about the same, the magnets are more powerful (or more of them) in the super squirt as a result it allows more flow without restriction. Also the super squirt has 1" outlets the squirt only 3/4"

The 2way squirt is the same parts as the squirt, it might have a different cut "dohicky" inside that's slightly bigger to account for the lack of two other outlets.
