strange leather
I have had this leather for a little over a week now and it only opens up at night, it acts like it is nocturnal is there such a leather, base is about 2-2.5 inches and the heads is about 4-4.5 inches, at night it does extend a feeder type tentacle like a chili coral does. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated Thanks PS ....I't came from jacks on mill run if anyone did some trading with them

One possibility is that it could be getting a little too much light. How about a fish picking at the polyps during the day as another explanation?
Also, here is a response from Eric Borneman to a similar question. "The coral is getting lots of light energy during the day even if the polyps aren;t open but this is a rathe unusual behavior for a leather coral...very interesting one, though. The "bending" you are seeing is probably a prey capture response, and not a "light-response" here is the thread w/the question where Eric responds: http://archive.reefcentral.com/forum...turnal+leather
