Hi Folks,

Thanks for the good wishes!!

The surgery went about 80% successfully. My wife has had rheumatoid arthritis since she was 12 (she has had 6 hip replacements, a knee replacment and numerous other surgeries), and this time the bones in her shoulder were too diseased to implant part of the prosthetics. However, the surgeon was able to do a lot of repair, so we are hoping that the pain relief will be significant.

I will be spending a lot of time in the hospital over the next week or so, until she gets home, and then after that I will have to do a lot of extra care of her as well as the chores she normally does. The upshot is that there will be times when my presence on the forum is pretty "spotty." This will cure itself as she heals up and I expect that in a month or two, things will be back to normal here.

Thanks for your understanding of the situation.
