Temp setting

New to the reef system, need to know what we are setting our temps at here in hot 118 degree temp Las Vegas. I had mine set at 78.0 to 79.0 being chiller comes on at 79.0 but the house a\c runs none stop at 83.0 tell around 9pm. I think I need to set temp up to 80.0 chiller turn on and off at 79.0. Need to figure out a way to run exhaust to outside, working on that.

Thanks
Bill

A 1 degree set point is going to over work the chiller( cycle on and off to much ).I use a 3 degree set point.Temp set at 82 chiller turn on at 85 and brings it back down to 82.My chiller only turns on 2 times a day on a hot day.

i personally wouldn't run my tank at 85 degrees, even if it's just the peak temperature. right now, i have my thermostat set to 78 and my tank stays at a constant 81.9 degrees.

no chiller, just a fan that switches on when the water in my sump (in the garage) rises past 83. the fan turns on for about 4 hours in the afternoon.

I just have fans over my tank. The house AC is on 24/7 at 78 degrees, so that keeps everything nice and stable for the tank. It stays at 82 degrees and at night it drops it 81.5.

Ok
I set the chiller to come on at 81.5 degress and hooked my sump fan up to the aquacontroller to come on at 81 degress and off at 80 degress. The house a\c is set at 80 degress and runs off and on 24/7 mostly on.

Amy you set yours at 78 degress and it runs 24/7?

My last power bill was 424.00 small house with pool, but since I change the temps and added the sump fan, the chiller doesnt come on, and exhaust heat into family room thank God. So mabey that will help. I would like to turn the a/c down to 78 but afraid it will cost to much. It will no dout run 24/7.

I do have the house AC set at 78 degrees 24/7. It helps keep the 29g tank and my nano tank nice and cool. Both tanks have MH lighting too. Only the 29g needs a fan when the lights are on.

My electric bill is a killer though. I don't know how much it has to do with the AC being on, but I work at home as a chef and how two freezers, two fridges, my ovens are on for about 12 hours a day.
