any DIYers
I'm new here to Vegas, about four months now and i am very interested in DIY projects. I scored a tank but need to build a stand and hood. I'm really interested in building sump/refugium and skimmer, just don't understand the plumbing.

nope, no plans. i had hoped to document the project w/ pics, but i found that once i got started, i would forget to stop and take pics.
i do have one pic of a top/bottom frame here . for the top and bottom frames, i used 2x4 pine. if you take a close look at a corner piece, i used (what i think are called) corner halving cuts. for the cross beams, i used "t halving" cuts. basically, i removed half the thickness of each piece of lumber so that they fit into each other. i used these cuts with the belief that the weight would be more equally distributed over the entire stand, rather than have the weight isolated to the screws holding the thing together. for the posts, i used 4x4s. i don't know how to explain how i attached them, so i'll try to post some pics sometime today. Bob, you know where i live, so if you want to come by and take a look, PM me. |

i'm really interested in seeing some setups like plumbing, sumps, fuge to help better understand whats going on. i see lots of pics on RC but doesn't beat seeing it in person.
