Oceanic salt: alkalinity problem corrected?

It's time for me to buy a couple of buckets of salt, and frankly, I'm tired of having to buffer, wait, test, buffer, wait, test the Oceanic salt. My bucket is several months old, so I'm curious if anyone knows if Oceanic has corrected the alkalinity and pH deficiencies?

If not, I'm going back to Kent.

Also, what is the general rule for waiting after adding buffer before getting an accurate, stable test result? I've read as short as an hour and as long as 24 hours.

Thanks
Sherri

The alk deal is a byproduct of high calcium I think. Pretty sure it's still high in calcium.

Tested today:

~ 50 gallons of RO/DI water to which enough Oceanic salt was added to bring the spg to 1.025 (per refractometer). The water was circulated for about 48 hours using a Mag 18 pump.

Results:

SPG: 1.025
pH: 7.4
dKh: 5.0
Ca: 480
Temp: 85

That SUCKS,

I am glad I went back to IO, with IO I can just use my normal Kalk and everything stays nice.
