High Quality VHO/MH HQI 48"= Oxymoron?
Ok. I have read every post for the last few months on MH HQI pendants with PCs, T5's and VHO's.
[[BUT]] Not one of the products I could find has VHO's AND a decent reflector! I found a crappy lookin hood type setups on ebay with decent reflectors and a few others on some websites out there but with a flat sheet of metal for the reflector (http://www.reeftanklighting.com/shop...alide+Fixtures) Is this a joke? Is there such a thing as a nice-looking, functional 48" pendant with dual MH's and dual VHO's? If there is, fill me in, I have spent several days looking for this bugger to no avail... I really like the CurrentUSA Outer Orbit, but it has PC and I have my heart set on VHO The ideal unit (48") would have 2 250W MH HQI 20K, 2 110W VHO dual-actinic, blue moon lights, and an ultra-sexy design. (outer orber=ultra-sexy IMHO) I know this is a lot of BLUE, but thats what I want |

Ya I have seen that one. Problem is, they use single ended mogul socket MH bulbs with a flat peice of metal for a reflector. HQI with a decent reflector would put out at least 2X more light...

I'm so picky ... the PFO is decent, but the reflector looks like hammered aluminum and the shape is boxy and unattractive. One of the big reasons in having a saltwater setup is to have it look attactive IMHO. $785 with no blubs isn't too great either and it does not come with legs or a way to hang it.
I wonder if there is a way to retro an Outer Orbit with VHO? Can a 130W PC put out as much light as a 110W VHO? (actinic) |

Probably not. In either case.
Did you try Aquactinics? Tom has a sponsor's forum here, you can ask him your questions.
