Pair of clowns

I am gonna go out today and purchase 2 clowns. Just let me know if I'm getting this right or not.

if i get 2 small clowns, one will eventually become female and huge and then the seventies porno music kicks in and the sweet love makin' starts..

What if the fish are differing in size from the start?

Will they pair up?

Is it harder to get that to happen?

Out of curiosity, what type of clowns are you getting?

From my understanding (and I could be wrong), the larger a clown is, the more likely it is a female (or more likely to become a female). So for your best shot at getting a male, buy a smaller one. I would think that if you want to end up with a pair, your best bet is to buy two clowns of greatly differing sizes. I did this with my false percs, and after 6 months, they're finally displaying spawning behavior (the Dance of Seduction)! No eggs yet, though.

I may be totally wrong, so feel free to correct me.

Your quote: "if i get 2 small clowns, one will eventually become female and huge and then the seventies porno music kicks in and the sweet love makin' starts.."

That's just too funny...LOL!

You got it. The dominant clown will turn female and they'll mate for you. What species of clownfish are you looking to buy? Also, if they do mate and lay eggs, here's a good link that describes what to do to care for the eggs...

I bought two very small clowns a year ago. They were about .5" and 1". They have both doubled in size, provided a lot of joy, and survived a tank crash. However, neither has seemed to show signs they are any more than just friends.
