There is so much misinformation at the LFS level it's no wonder the hobby has so many failures in the first six months. If you can hookup with one of the companys in your area they are very helpful. We have a great relationship with Foster & Smith Liveaquaria up here. They have bentover backwards to help us. We have also hooked up with our Minneapolis/St. Paul club and they have been a great source for frags and information. We do not charge dues and are now holding meetings in members homes which gives us a chance to see first hand what others are doing. To start with we held our meetings where we could find free space, bars, marina clubhouse, municipal freshwater aquarium, etc, to build membership. If I can share any ideas feel free to PM me.
