I just got some new frags and I have a few questions...

They are stylophora (~1/2") and Green Bird's nest (~2") I was just wondering about how long it will take them to grow out? I know its hard to guess on this kind of question, but the answer I'm looking for is whether or not its a fast grower/slow grower/etc.

Thanks guys!

-Matthew

My birdsnest frag has been in my tank about 4 months and hasn't made any noticeable growth under actinic/mh lighting.

darn, thanks for the help though guys. I know that it all has to do with chemistry, etc. Just wondering on their growth rates with "ideal" conditions....

My 'nest has at least tripled in size in two years.

Edit - that's pretty general, I guess... I bought a colony that was about 2-3" in dia. It's now about 9" in dia. Lots of branches.

Hey guyz... if you're going to say your coral isn't or is growing fast, tell him what lights they're under. I'm running a 250w mh 14000k on one side of the tank, and a 250w mv 6500k on the other, and the 6500 kicks coral growth into high gear! The 14000k is phenomenal for color, but a bit slower growth.

Well, I'm gettin' read to get some XM 10K's here before long...I don't care for the yellow of the 6500k, so I'll gonna have to sacrifice some of the growth speed I guess....

Thanks ya'll,

-Matthew

Mine started under a generic 6500K 175W mh + 2 actinic 95w vho. Now it's under a coralvue 10k 250w mh + 2 actinic 95w vho.

Their growth reallly depends on a multitude of tank conditions. Neither are superfast growers if that is what you are wanting to know. They aren't slow either.

How's that for a vague answer?

All my SPS frags have doubeld in size with in 6 months. but you need great water and light. Unlike fish, a corals size really depends on it's enviorment.
