Which set up should I choose?

I have 2 choices for my reef lights:
1)Decent looking pandent with 2x150w and 2x36w Actinic tubes, internal ballast
2)Custom DIY aluminium rank with 2x250w, external ballast

Both are of almost the same pricing

I intend to keep SPS at the top half of my 2.5ft high tank and clams at the sandbed

So which set up do you guys think i should choose?

Are you saying the depth is 30 inches?? I'd definately go with 250w then... or even 400w. Also I doubt choice 1. has an internal ballast. You might want to do a little more reading on electronic vs. magnetic ballasts and SE vs. DE bulbs. [single ended/ double ended] good luck
