Feather duster abandoned tube?
So what does it mean if you wake up and see that your feather duster has climbed all the way out of its tube and is now laying on the substrate next to it?

It might not be dead. That happened to me about 2 months ago. Mine lost it's plume, crawled out of it's tube, and was on the substrate for a few days. Then for about a month It was gone. My lfs told me I could leave the tube in the tank Well, a few weeks ago I saw it pokeing out of the tube a little. It's plumes are a little weak looking, but it's not dead.
