(VIDEO) Supercharged C5 and Yamaha R1 make high Speed Pass...

http://www.corvettekillstories.com/p...ideo/R1vid.wmv

This is a qoute from the Corvette driver referring to a conversation with the bike rider afterwards.

"He was cool, we talked after and he said he was flat out and saw 178 MPH on the pass!!! "

I thought it was some kind of country music
That was a really crappy road to be going that fast, bumpy and lots of intersecting streets. I would NEVER do that on a road like that but it seemed pretty exciting to watch. BTW that car has 600 RWHP.

i run drag bikes and ride a 2002 zx12r that will run 206mph (i have the bonnieville box on it) and from the looks of that road i doubt they where going 175 not to mention the speedo is way off on bikes at that speed.if his speedo said 175mph he was probaly only running 150-160.also an r-1 with a pro rider at the test only is rated top speed of 171mph

I don't doubt what you're saying; it didn't look like they were traveling at that speed to me. I have never driven nearly that fast (outside of an air plane) and the way that the objects on the side of the road were being past indicates that to me. I was only quoting what the author said.

I'll see for myself when I try it out this summer, under conditions that will not endanger anyone else of course.

Jscarb2, Man you know bikes! But are you sure its 171 and not 172!! Where did you get the bonnieville box at? Is it like that "yellow"? box which is supposed to give accurate speed measurements?

SBSB, you'll fall in love with pushing something to those speeds in a safe environment! The rush is indescribable. Now I just wish I could access that darn video! Silly firewalls.

You shouldn't have a problem watching the video. All I did was click on the link.

Yea, June 2002
We have only put about 2,000 miles on since then and I'm finally going to do some modifications. Anywho, it's strictly a toy and used mostly for fun and this is the summer some things are going to change.

Thank you Daniel. Our Corvette is a 1998 that we bought in 2002 with 6,000 miles. It now has 8,000 and change, so it is like a new car but not really. I'm only planning some minor stuff like different exhaust, intake, lowering and window tinting.
