do these star eat amphipode or copode. i want them as a cleanup crew but not if they eat amphipode or copode. these are the one sold by indo something or another(forgot their name). i emailed them with the same question and they said no that mini star only eat algae and detritus. is this true.

Hi apaulo

Your Ophiuroid "mini-stars" are grunge grubbers rather than pod hunters. Granted, through freak dynamics they could incidentally eat exceedingly tiny pods, but that's more than made up for by their ability to help in the waste-processing war.

If something is going to suppress your pod population via predation, it will likely be fish and sessile inverts.

BTW, your stars can do a disappearing act for some time before you see them again --and sometimes in happily greater numbers.
