I recently puchased a large elegance. There are several flat, beige/brown, 3-4 mm round, oblong critters moving about on it's flat surfaces. They look like someone spilled a dop af maple sysup that has 1-2 small air bubbles in the middle. They move pretty quickly, too.
Any ideas what these might be? Thanks, Gene |

Hmm ... could be flatworms ... where did ya purchase it at? Can you call them and ask if they know of FW in their tanks?

It does indeed sound like flatworms. I'd take the elegance out into a bucket of tank water and just use a turkey baster to blow them off. If it is flatworms it may already be too late to prevent a plague but at least you'll have some of the critters to get an ID. If they do turn out to be the dreaded Convolutriloba retrogemma flatworms you may want to consider using something like Salifert Flatworm Exit before they get out of control.
I have been battling these flatworms for over a year and a half now (planning to use flatworm exit next weekend) and I've yet to see one on a live coral so be sure to get an ID.
