demo/fraging

Hello all,
I,m new at this.
Is there anyone that can give a live demo.
On fraging at the next meeting.
Some of you have been doing it for a long time.
But we keep getting new members each month.
Like myself that donot know.
I just killed 3 pcs of xenia becouse i didnot know.
I put the 3 pcs in netting each in its own.And then I put rubber bands on them.Waited 6 days .they all died.
thanks for your reply

Let's start with the basics. How old is the mother colony? How long did it take to grow to the size you fragged it at? Are your tank conditions ideal?

this is a tough one ... unless someone has a large colony they can easily remove from their tank, trasnport to the meeting, and be willing to chop up, there's really no easy to "show" how it's done.

i would suggest starting with something really simple, like 'shrooms. you simply cut, with a sharp razor, the mushroom from the rock. you then cut the 'shroom into little pie-shaped pieces. put all the little pieces in a small dish/container filled with rubble, then place this somewhere on your substrate. that's it. in a few days the little 'shrooms will attach to the rubble and you can then park them wherever you please.

the dish it will need to have just enough circulation to keep the water moving, but not enough to blow the little 'shrooms out of the dish. pretty easy ...
