I have this invert in my tank, somewhat odd looking, but extremely interesting. Definitely an herbivore. Has 4 larger protruding fleshy masses on the anterior near the mouth-end (head) as well as an over-all 'hairy' appearence. Has similar mouth function to that of a snail ....many rows of "teeth" (don't know correct term) that spin and retract to get algae off of hard surfaces. I tried for an ID before, but the pic was insufficient. Have two questions.

1) With pics provided is a ballpark ID possible

2) I know its not likely to mess with the coral, but should I worry about tank contamination if it should die?

Its on the rock covered covered with some plating algae that is another story unto itself.

On this you can see the little 'hairs'.

I appreciate any help,

-Perry

Hi Perry,

It is a type of snail I think, perhaps a sea hare. That's about as good as I can do right now. Better pix = better identification.

I wouldn't worry unduly about it.
