installed 2 #2 Koralias in the 29 this aft. Wow, what flow! Compared to the powerheads [MJ1200 and 950] its amazing to see how much water is moved around without digging up the sand. I put one on the left halfway towards the front pointed slightly down and the other on the right almost all the way back pointed straight across the back. Both are about 2" below the surface, and there's not an area of rock or substrate that isn't being swept. There are a couple areas in the rock that reduce/redirect flow that should still be OK for LPS. After a year or so, I imagine SPS will love it. A larger visual footprint than the PHs, but I'm getting used to it already. Seeing them in action now, I'd recommend them to anyone. For a mixed reef 29 I think this is perfect. All SPS might want to step it up a bit, but I'd say no more than a #3 and a #2 IMO. And thanks to those who helped with the decision.
regards, -rw

yeah, i have a 24g NC with a k. 1 and (2) k. nanos. i have each nano on each side of the glass at the back aimed in at each other to help create some turbulent flow behind the rock to diminish detritus from building up back there. i then have my k. 1 at the top middle of the left glass pane aimed down towards the front for coral flow. those koralias are pretty nice as they move a lot of water, but without disturbing the sandbed, as you said.
