LFS Map and GPS
By now, we all know about the LFS Map . But, how many of you got a GPS for X-mas and would like to have the stores on your new unit as "Points of Interest" (POI's). Well, I did, so I put together this list with 80 stores from Santa Barbara to Riverside. It's made for the Garmin units, so don't ask me about "Tom Tom" or any other units as I don't know.

You might look to see what the difference is in the files and possibly still use the information. The cool thing about the Garmin file is that it's basically a spread sheet.

Thanks Mike.
If anyone that uses this knows of more LFS, or changes, post the info and I will add/remove it to the database.

Not that hard, and it was only a log book.
cthetoy, thanks for the heads up on the Tom Tom conversion. Glad to see it may be used.

OK, I was able to get it onto the TomTom.
It never occurred to me to just copy the file directly into the map folder of the device. Thanks! |

Now just set it up to alert you within a certain distance and................. It's like the stores are calling you as you drive by!

I have a Garmin Edge 305 (for cyclists). Do any of you know how to download this database onto my unit, or who I need to talk with about that?

Siapin, you need the POI Loader. You can find it on the net, it's free.

I did it the "old fashion" way. On Dec 25, I entered about 10 LFS manually.

Ed, cthetoy posted a link (above) to convert the file I provided to a file that the Tom Tom can use. After that, I'm not sure as I have a Garmin. You probably need a loader to do it like the Garmin.

badsanta,
Did you figure out how to copy the (converted) POI file to the TomTom? If not, simply copy and paste the .ov2 file to the map (US and Canada maybe?) folder on the TomTom, then reboot the TomTom. HTH |
