Winter Storm Warning In Effect
FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 5 PM MST SUNDAY FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 5500 FEET...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREAT FALLS HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 5 PM MST SUNDAY. A STRONG STORM SYSTEM WILL AFFECT THE MOUNTAINS NEAR THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE TONIGHT AND SUNDAY. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 8 TO 16 INCHES ARE EXPECTED...WITH LOCAL ACCUMULATIONS UP TO 20 INCHES POSSIBLE AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS. IN ADDITION...STRONG WESTERLY WINDS WILL CAUSE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW THROUGH MOUNTAIN PASSES WITH REDUCED VISIBILITIES CAUSING POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS. A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW... SLEET... AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.  and I get to drive thru this to take the MIL home after her 3 week visit yea, it's worth it

And just think - you could get stuck and have to spend many, many QUALITY TIME hours sitting on the freeway while they clean up the wrecks.

Enjoy it and be careful! We got stuck on the KS Turnpike last week during a whiteout. It took us forever to hobble to the first service area b/c we couldn't tell the road from the snowdrifts. Luckily, it blew over in a couple of hours and we were on our way again.
