refugium lights

i have read mixed reviews on the length of time for refuge lites to be on--some say after main lites are off--some say 24/7--one person said he cuts his on while main tank is on---which is better

Depends on what you are growing in the refugium. Chaeto - 24/7. Caulerpa - opposite of the main display.

I mainly have chaeto with a little Halimeda and run 24/7. I just have a 20 high sump and use a compact flurescent bulb that runs at 200w equivalent . All I know is the chaeto grows like crazy in there
