Fire Shrimp?
Are they good cleaners? Will they attack other inverts? (hermit crabs, snails)?
Thanks

Mine never bothered anyone or never cleaned anyone. My quote unquote reef safe fancy star eat him 6 months later.

Not the best fish cleaner. Good as a CUC though.

What would you use as the best cleanup up crew for a 90 gallon tank? Right now I have 10 snails, and 4 hermit crabs.
Thanks

I'd add some more snails.
If you have a sand bed add some nassarius sp. (5-8) Trochus have been good to me. ceriths and astreas are popular, but the astreas can't right themselves if they fall upside down and will either be eaten or die if you don't help them out. Peppermint shrimp and fire shrimp will eat leftovers (and if you're lucky the pepps will eat aptasia). Some keep a snail for every 1-2 gallons but then some die after the initial algal blooms reside. At some point your crabs will probably start to eat some snails or knock over corals, a lot of people including myself don't keep any crabs as they tend to cause some trouble. That said, crabs may be the best cleaners available. |

I have both flame and skunkback cleaners. The flame shrimp are really beautiful but I've never seen them clean my fish and they do like chasing the skunks around.

Love fire shrimps - colorful and never bothered anything in 3 years. Mine lived in a cave area and fish would pull in, where he'd clean them. He wasn't an agressive cleaner but once in a while you could see him doing his thing. The lawnmower blenny really seemed o enjoy the cleaning.
Unfortunately, he did die a couple weeks ago. I think my clown fed him to the anemone (unsure if the fireshrimp was on his way out and the clown cleaned him up or if it was agressive feeding on the clown's part). I vote that it would be a great addition to your tank. |

I love mine, whenever you actually see him. Once I actually forgot I had one.

My fire shrimp is my star pupil. He is an anxious cleaner. I can't stick my hand in the tank without getting a manicure. He is very willing to clean any fish that pulls up. I see him cleaning my Flame Angel every few days. He will also eat Krill right out of my hand, which is pretty spiffy.

My powder blue tang gets cleaned from my fire shrimp all the time. They hide alot, only really coming out to eat. But when they do come out, they really stand out with their beautiful colors. Not aggressive at all.

I have 2 fire shrimp and they tackle and clean every fish I put in the tank. They also try to clean my hand when I put my hand in there. The 2 fire shrimp always come to the glass when I go to the tank to view everything.
