Foxface and a Purple Tang

Looking for recommendations... do you think a Foxface and a purple tang would be fine in a 75 g tank? Also in the tank: 2 clown fish, 2 fire fish, and misc soft coral and zoa's.

I would do one or the other but not both, probably the fox face.

I had a purple tang and it was very aggressive, my fox face could care less about other fish though...hth

I unfortunately just lost a foxface this past weekend, he jumped out of the tank when we were gone for the weekend. I'm sure he wanted to just go for a tour of the kitchen before he knew what he got himself into. I had a naso tang and a yellow tang with him in a 72 gallon (also 5 other fish) but everyone got along just fine for months. I'd say do both. /r Dave

Do some research before you stock your tank. I went over to marine depot live and MINIMUM size tank for a Naso Tang 150g, MINIMUM size tank for a purple tang 100g, MINIMUM size tank for a fox face 60g. Can you put those fish toghether in a 75g, sure. Will you have problems? Maybe, maybe not. Are you providing the best environment for the fish if you have them both toghther in a smaller tank? no. Think long term what is best for the fish as it gets bigger.

Buy small and trade it away later if you really want that fish, happens all the time. Two or more years is ok with me. Or better yet "Honey, we need to upgrade the tank since your favorite fish needs more room to swim" See I agree, it's good to think long term

I've never had a foxface, but I had a Purple Tang in my 72 gallon bow for 3 years with no problems. He just swam around like a happy camper, then I sold him to Malcom in '05.
