Stop - Now

Bumping every post you come across just 'cuz is just annonying enough to make you lose your posting privileges.

Just a warning to a couple of you.

Not that I disagree, mind you.

I think you should get rid of post counts, who gives a crap anyways. Just because you have thousands of posts doesnt mean you actually know anything, or make you COOL.........

Very true, contributing to RC with meaningful posts, something with real information is what this site is about. What this site is not about is someone with 12000 post when 90% of them are "great tank" , "looks great", etc....

This forum seems to have it's waves of garbage threads and for sale threads that are worthless to the reefing comunity. Thank god the for sale threads are getting closed down again, and it's only a matter of time that other measures will have to be taken.

Please read what you type in the reply box and ask yourself, "does this reply actually contribute to the Southern California reefing community?" if not, please don't press the "Submit Reply" button, we don't need it anymore.

Kevin, I know this has been brought up time and time again....It sure would solve this problem.

Let me ask you, what's the reason for post counts?

Ken, i couldn't agree more. though we all at times have posted the "nice tank" replies, it seems every day i'm reading more and more threads where the replies are completely ridiculous and never needed to be posted in the first place. my wife will attest that i complain quite a bit about useless posts.

it seems this forum has become more of a "click" than a helpful reefing community. i suggest the people that are on here stuck in that mentality go back to myspace.

I think the posts count should be left on because depending on the advice that I get I usually take the person that has 10,000 posts over someone with 400 posts. I think you should kick off the people that always say "bump" and "Great tank". It's cool to use those every once in a while, but people overdue it.

That by the way is a very valid point. When i was starting out and say had questions about ich, i would have much rather listened to the contributing members (more posts means more involved in most cases), rather then some dude with 5 posts that says for example buy a cleaner wrasse to cure the ich

You should click on the "search" button within the persons post to see how that person has been answering questions before any "trust" is given. I have found many a member with only a few hundred post that can be a wealth of information compared to someone making meaningless posts just to "look cool". Second opinions and research are one of the best tools we can use.

Yes, sometimes post counts mean much more outside of this forum, but it's still worth checking things out for yourself.

Thank you for bringing this up, it was quite annoying...right after I put up something to sell it is now buried 4 pages down...

/end crybaby rant.

Post count means this - much to me, I take all replies in to account. It is actually quite easy to see who is giving you good advice an who is not. You can't just rely on a reply to your post alone...do some research and see what adds up.

I know I dont have much credit here being a new guy...but I had to say my piece

I don't know what the right number is, but I would take the 400 over the 10,000. Just my opinion. Yes, there is faaar too much fluff here in SoCal.
