Reef Devil overflowing
I have a ETSS Reef Devil fed by a Mag #7. The skimmer sits on a stand (ok, maybe it stands on a stand, but anyways...) in the sump, such that the pump is about 12" below the bottom of the skimmer. The output of the skimmer is a good 2" above the water level (so there is no back pressure).
Now, the problem I'm having is that the froth in the tube going up to the collection cup is very thin, and the skimmate in the cup is basically water. Can someone explain why this might be, and more importantly, how do I address it? Thanks, David |

try raising the skimmer in the water, 12 seems deep, but i dont know what they suggest for proper water level for the reef devil. i guess i should ask if this is an i sump set up?

The sump is a rubbermaid stock tank. There is a stand that the skimmer sits on, so that the output is 2 inches above the water line (meaning only the bottom ~6" is below water). It's the pump that is as much as a foot below the skimmer.
If it's still confusing, I'll post a picture later tonight. |

I had the same problem with my QT tank, it foamed up for 4 days straight to the point where i had to restrict air going into the skimmer in order to keep the cup from overflowing.
I think I added stress coat to some tap water that I used to top off or something (i know, i know, I have an RO filter now)
