Aussie Lord placement
Hi guys,
I was just wondering where you have your Aussie lords placed in your tank? The height of your tank would also be nice. Lighting would be great too. Thanks.

How's it going Maximus. I've got mine in a frag tank setting. My tank is 12 inches in depth. They sit about mid way up on a rack. There have been alot of people lossing these to recession. I think it's due to the lighting. I used to keep them under assorted halides with not much long term luck. I just recently put them under T5's and they love it. They seem to like alot of blue light. I have 5 blue lamps, and 2 white lamps. They are puffy as can be. Hope this helps you out a bit. Happy holidays to you.

Thanks Clint. Very good to know about the MH issue. Perhaps I should start them out real low. I run 2x250 hqi d/e and 4 t-5 actinics btw. Happy holidays to you too!

I keep mine on the lower half of a 25 inch deep tank. I run 2 150W 14K and 4 x 39 T5 actinics. They grow quickly.

I keep mine under 150 mh 20k. No tissue recession, some loss of color, but the growth has been great. They are about 12" under the light.

I had mine under 250W DE's and VHO's in a 125, most were about 14" from the water surface. They all did fine for about 4 months. I've since moved them to their own tank (22g-13"T) under T5's (4-24W). They are really coloring up now...

i got the orange green one from Captive Reef. They seem to be growing really well for me. I sold some of my other corals so that
this tank could house mostly acans. I have alot of blue in my bulb configuration. They seem to really thrive under this lighting. |

Very nice alex.
Max, i have sps and need the 400w 10k's for them, But i do have my acans all the way down in my tank on the floor like an overspill. I added 4 t5-s on an icecap ballast and 3 blue plus and a true actinic. They have been coloring up nicely with the added blues. I did shorten my halide time to 8 hrs, and thinking on lowering it to 7, But the blues is right on, They love the blue! Plus it's cooler looking when things glow! The sps have been positively reacting to the blues as well. The purples, and greens have been popping more.

I tried some acans and placed them in the bottom of my 30 inch high tank and i think that I still have way to much light for them because they sort of bleached out. they still puff up and they still eat alot when i feed them, and seem to be growing. I have moved them into more shady spots now. Anyone think that they will recover eventually? In a 400W MH lit tank should they be placed in a cave almost? Or not under MH at all?
