the brown algae is probably dying off and being replaced with the green. How old is this tank?

Most likely natural algae succession. Brown diatoms get taken over by green hair algae. I'm guessing this is a relatively new tank?

Give it some time. With regular maintenance and water changes, the algae will go away. It may take more time than you think, but just keep up with it.
