Quietist skimmer --- in sump

40 breeder with current use of AquaC Remora with MJ1200.

Looking for reduced noise, due to tank being under an open stairwell to bedrooms.

Any one get rid of AquaC Remora and notice a difference?

Have you tried the "paper towel mod"?? I have an urchin on my 40b and it works like a CHARM!

Tunzes are sweet skimmers. I'll prolly switch out my Urchin for one someday. I would just say before you go spend the money for a brand new skimmer, try a .02 papertowel.

That is so funny.

I want no part of any aquarium equipment that can be modded to perform better with paper towels

Take a papertowel and fold it up. If you cover the injection port LIGHTLY with a paper towel the skimmer becomes MUCH MUCH quieter.

You don't want to mash it in there. Just fold it to the same shape as the section where the port is. Lay it on the top. This is a well known mod for these skimmers.

you mean the square section on the left, over the white screw?

Just like insulate over it with a paper towel?
