AP600 do you have one?

What size is your tank? Its rated for Normal Stocking: 200g Heavy Stocking: 130g.

Is this about right? Would you put it on a 120g?

The rating on the AP600 is a little optimistic. If you want to stick with Deltec, I would at least go with the APF for a SPS tank.

I am using an AP600 on my 90 with about with a heavy bioload. Very happy with the skimmer had it about a 1.5 years, personally don't feel the APF is worth the $ difference. Well, maybe if you want to slam it with fish like I would. Give Doug @ Deltec a buzz he will talk shop with ya for as long you want.

I went with the apf on my 120gal tank. I would say the secret to the deltec skimmers is the aqua-bee or Ehime pump/needlewheel. I think you could find a less expensive version of a skimmer using an ehime pump. Less than $800+ anyways. Im also not thrilled that the deltec skimmer is just regular extruded acrylic. With as expensive as the are, I would expect cell cast.

Personally, I would look to a different manufactue that uses an ehime pump. I think euroreef does now. just my two cents.

But the AP600 is better than the ASM2, right?

For a 75g, what would you pick out of these two?

For the 120g, what would you recommend?

I ran my APF600 on my 120g, now it's running on my 70g. I love the skimmer, performs like a champ, no complaints at all.

If i t were me, I would go with the EuroReef RC180. It runs $898 at Premium Aquatics. It uses an Ehime 1262 recir pump pulling 960LPH of air. It has the 8" cylinder and is rated for a heavy load on a 120 gallon tank. The skimmer is constructed in sturdy cast acrylic.

The Deltec APF 600 does NOT use the Ehime pump but instead uses the Aqua-bee (still a good pump but dosent beat the Ehime for air pull and efficiency). It also only has a 5" reaction chamber and is made of cheaper, extruded acrylic.

I think the comparable Deltec skimmer to the RC180 would maybe be the Deltec 701. Still made of cheaper extruded acrylic, uses an Ehime 1262 recirc pump drawing 950LPH of air and has the 8" reaction chamber. The price tag however is $1133.00. $235.00 more than the EuroReef RS180 and not constructed nearly as well.

I used a AP600 and I loved it. I have a used APF600 on my frag tank and it runs great.

Here is a pic of my AP600 before I sold it. It is a great performer andit is built very good. I banged it a couple of times and it didn't break.

I had one. Nice little skimmer, but I wouldn't use it on a 120 unless it was very lightly stocked. I would say more like 75 - 90G.
