pc light fixture questions
has anyone ever taken one of these apart and used it as a retrofit? i have a coralife moonlight fixture and and installing a cannopy. the entire peice wont fit on the system so i want to just make it part of the canopy. any success? ideas? comments? pictures?

whats the inside measurements of your canopy....you might be able to remove the endcaps from the coralife setup and then drill thru the sheetmetal top to mount screws to the top of the canopy. might give you that little bit of room to fit it, or CAREFULLY use a chopsaw or sawzall to "trim" down the excess extruded aluminum housing a bit to fit inside the canopy (be very careful of wiring harness). we have a 6' coralife setup and disassembling it to fit in the canopy would not be worth the effort due to how the ballasts/wires are ran...probably best to go for a simple retrofit kit and sell off your complete functional unit on here to recoup some of the costs...

well the unit is 48 inches and will definately fit. but i need to mount it and i would imagine attaching the lights inside the plastic case would create immense heat that why i want to make it retro by taking everything out of the actual setup. i am just asking has anyone had any success with this. how they did it or any possible ideas
