Unknown rogue corals?
I have these rogue corals or whatever they are growing in my tank and they keep multiplying. I was wondering if anyone knew what they were and how I can get rid of them. I took some pictures, sorry I couldn't zoom in any closer, my camera has a bad zoom. They seem to be affecting my zoas. Any help would be great! Everytime I get close to them, they close into the live rock.

They are aptasia, have a few options.
1. carribean peppermint shrimp for natural removal. 2. Joes Juice or Aptasia Control paste. 3. Homemade kalkwasser paste mix available via online recipes. 4. Citrus juice, bioling water, etc as injections are also other remedies. 5. Copperband butterflies. 6. Berghia Nudibranchs |

Thanks, I was trying to look them up but I had no idea on how to search for them because I didn't know what they were called. I appreciate your help SWSaltwater!

I agree on all points too. One more thing to add though...I can't stand them. Get rid of em; zap em, get them out of there or they will take over.
There's lots on info on them. I used to try to inject each one, but it was too much work. I found that some individual shrimp are hungry for them and some are not. Its the luck of the draw. Also, I found the best way to get rid of them was to dab each with Mrs. Waggins Pickling Lime solution (aka Kalkwasser, but about 1/8 the price at Watmart than your LFS). (The kalk solution dabbing will bleach your corlaline.) Good luck. |

Peppermint shrimp did the trick for me several years ago and they have never returned. Now if I could just find something as easy to take care of Mojano anemones?

The rock that they are on looks kinda small can you remove it and the glass anenome's all in one shot if so I would remove the entire rock and treat it 100% them be nasty things. and very hard to kill

I have had some luck with peppermint shrimp, but if you feed enough to keep the shrimp full they won't have an appetite for the anemones.

Joe's Juice has worked great for my majanos. They used to be a problem--no more.
For my aptaisia, I used pepp shrimp. Given how cheap they are, I'd suggest you buy several (I found them on sale and put ~8 in my 120 tank). No aptaisia at all. They are not inherintly bad, but when they make contact with some corals they sting them. Also, they spread rather rapidly, so best to keep them in check.

peppermint shrimp, or distilled white vinegar in a TB or insulin syringe injected directly into them works instantly and great!
