My calcium is too high. What should I do

So I have a 12g aquapod and my SPS haven't been doing well. I've test for everything so far and it was all fine. I decided to test for calcium and it was like 550. I was told that's too high. What can I do to lower it? I was told water changes but I already do weekely water changes.

let it come down by it own or you can do a big water change since your tank is small, 6g is not too bad.

gotcha, I'll do a 5g water change. How does it get too high in the first place?

Check your make up water... What brand are you using. If you do weekly changes and it's still high my guess would be the source is the culprit.
Is your Ca being @ 550 affecting anything else ?

I would double check your Calcium levels. Leathers usually do not to well with high calcium levels. Perhaps the kit is old or you mis read it. What are your other levels, specificly Alkalinity?

i agree with puff... my API read 500 when i was at like 380 or so. I'd test it against against another test kit?

Agree with what Yinger said.

Besides, doesn't Calcium precipitate when it's passed a certain point? I doubt that it's 550.

Not wanting to be the pessimist here but you'll have a very hard time keeping sps in that 12 gal aquapod. So good luck and don't get too frustrated.
