The inability to say "NO"

Ok, so I wasn't going to put anything else in my tank - other than a Squamosa Clam. Been looking for one for a while, without luck.

Yesterday I took a ride to a nearby fish store and once my eyes met this Derasa, my wallet spontaneously opened.

WHAT is wrong with me?

Anyway, please meet Mr. Self Control, my new Derasa. (I chose that name on purpose)

Here he is next to my Maxima.

...and from now on I will avoid looking at clams at all cost.

Thanks for looking and reading.

Gorgeous Derasa. Congrats. Sorry to hear about your wallet, though. I know how you feel.

I just got back from my LFS where I intended to just pick up another Ca test and some DT's for my Baby Maxima but like you, I made the mistake of "browsing" hehe. I spotted a beautiful 5" Gold Teardrop Maxima and my debit card jumped out of my wallet.

Oh will it ever end!!

Schigara, thank you so much.
LOL about what you said.
I hear you. Boy do I ever!
As a matter of fact the store had a baby Gold Teardrop Maxima as well, but I knew better than to pick up a 1.5 incher. Just too afraid something could go wrong at that size.

I honestly have no room for anything else at this point, but a friend of mine told me he'd "find" room for me. We'll see. The last thing I want to do is overcrowd. My corals (mostly SPS) have been growing beautifully for me, and my tank is my sanity/therapy.

But those clams WILL get me into trouble...I just know it.

Thank you all so much.

And Jeff, when I just read your signature I cracked up laughing. My fingers are crossed, but hey, old houses are built much better than new ones these days.

I got him in Toms River, a placed called Aqua Oceans, on RT.9. When I called him yesterday he still had 1 Derasa left, and the baby Gold Teardrop Maxima.

There's a place in Avenel called Aquatic Obsessions. They have MANY beautiful Maximas.

OMG! I'm seeing double! That's too cool. And your Maxima looks a little like mine, too. Yay!

How long have you had yours? They are so gorgeous, aren't they though?

When did you stop in there?

When they had their 1 year anniversary sale about 4-5 weeks ago, they were totally loaded with clams. Sure, they had a few smaller Maximas then, but the majority of them were around 3+".

Pretty crazy...must be from the same stock.
iIve had that derasa about 3 weeks now. I found it mislabled as a $40 maxima at a place near me that is generally pretty lousy, but sometime their sloppiness works to the customer's advantage..hehe.

The maxima is only a few days old. Another LFS by me got a load of ultras in so I cherry picked a couple right after they came in. I've got the aqua one you see part of in the photo as well as a blue/gold and another aqua/purple speckled one.

Looks just like the ones my LFS just got in this week from ORA along with the black maxi I got. If it is the same they are calling them ORA thick stripe green derasa.

Farmed Derasas are coming out of Solomons, might be also out of Tonga, but not sure about the later.
.
Wendy, your Derasa is nice, but your Maxima is stunning.
