plumbers putty
i have heard of using plumbers putty to secure frags but cant find any of the threads right now. mine keep getting ripped off the rocks and need to know what kind is best to use

Well, not quite shure about the plumber's putty some people use, but the tub I have here says
"Caution: Do not take internally. If Swallowed Seek Immediate Medical Attention. Do not Induce Vommiting. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN" Not sure if that would be 'reef safe'... Maybe I'm wrong though.... It really doesn't say it's toxic....

"Plumbers Putty" is a silly putty like substance that is used to help seal drain fittings and such. It also has petroleum products in it and should NEVER be put in your reef.
There IS an epoxy putty that plumbers use for repairs, which is totally safe once cured. You can even use small bits of it inside the tank to mount frags and rocks. It will shut down your skimmer for a while. Just have to get your nomenclature straight when you go shopping

go to a local hobby store and ask for milli-put. its a 2 part epoxy putty and is reef safe.
