Thinking about getting out of hobby and possibly giving stuff away for free.

I would like to donate some or all of my livestock, corals, and live rock to a public display or a nonprofit org. I absolutly will not give any of this stuff to an individual for free. I will deliver for free in the rochester area. If i cant find any acceptable reciptiants i will then start to offer stuff for sale at a fair price. I have 100lbs +or- of live rock. Some nice show size pieces of coral. Lots of good equipment too.

Way too early to part out. Im looking in to donating first. I will not sell any coral or LR just yet. I am looking to donate them first. I will post if and when i am ready to sell.

I would really like for you to consider my brother for donations. He has just set up his first saltwater tank. It is a 90 gallon tank that he made the overflow for. He currently has no livestock at all. It has just finished cycling. He could really use a descent protein skimer but more importantly would be the live rock and the livestock. If you do decide to do this please conside my brother.

Thanks
Jeremy

I teach in the science department at Elmira College. The biology department has a few freshwater display tanks in the science building.

I could pass on your information to one of the biology profs to see if they are interested in something like this.

If this is the type of "donation" you are considering, let me know either here or through PM.

I will not pass on any info until you give the OK. Whereas they are a non-profit, charitable organization you can deduct the value of your donation from you income tax.

I work for Foodlink and we have taken over the Gifts in Kind program from the United Way. We supply places like Heritage Christian and ARC, and many other emergency shelter/group homes in 10 counties with non-food items(as well as food). I can see if we could use it. My wife has also been starting an aquarium program in her classroom. She is a speech therapist and works with children with all sorts of issues.

Not exactly sure what you have in mind as your target for donations...

- Seneca Park Zoo Tank?
- Strong Museum Tank?
- RIT Library Tank?

or something else?

Hey, I am also am memeber of Eriereefclub.com and they were discussing awhile back about maybe starting a tank for the Erie Zoo. The members of the site would help to maintain the tank also would be great for the public too enjoy what we love doing so much.
just a thought...
