osc. clown with swim bladder probs

So I have a juvenile osc. clown with a moderately distended stomach who seems to keep floating to the top. Been this way a few days now. It's still feeding, but to dive looks like it really has to struggle. Had this guy over 2 months now.

Any ideas? I'll post in the disease forum too, I guess, but wanted to start here.

And on an unrelated personal sob, my relationship ended tonight. So now I'm off to buy gallons of ice cream.
dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmit.

I don't think there's much you can do about swim bladder problems. Maybe a broad spectrum antibiotic but you probably have to hope it clears up on its own.

I am battling a swim bladder problem with my beloved black rhom---I am treating with some salt (he is FW) and tetracycline. It isn't going well. I am losing the battle, and am think about putting him down soon. I am not trying to hijack your thread, but tell you about how I am treating. As Phil said, there is not much you can do. Some things help, but ultimately, he will either make it or not. Constipation can cause SBD, and peas work as a laxative for fish. Just a thought.

Quick update--it's not quite as straightforward as I originally said. With no food in his stomach, the problem is minimal to none. But once he eats, he blows up like a balloon.
He's doing just as well now as he was when I started the thread.
Ideas?

Doglover check Fenners site, I think he has a fairly good page of info on Swim Bladder issues. Shoot them an email on WWM they will get back to you.

And as for the person sob.... WHOOO WHOOO! It must be going around man, im onto better things myself!
